Help:User-created scripts and writing systems
Aside from the very many scripts and writing systems available in the Unicode standard, it is - in principle - possible to use user-created scripts and writing systems for conlangs on Geopoeia. Such scripts can be added to the Unicode Private Use area (U+E000–U+F8FF) of the Geopoeia.ttf font, which can be used by means of the geop template. However, creating and adding scripts requires considerable knowledge of the necessary software (although some help may be available in the forums).
Procedure and rules
Procedure for adding scripts/writing systems
- Request a code block reservation in the appropriate forum thread.
- Await your turn (most likely immediately after granting of the aforementioned request).
- Download the latest version of the Geopoeia.ttf font.
- Add glyphs according to the rules specified below.
- Send the new version of Geopoeia.ttf to admin@geopoeia.net.
Because only one user can make additions to the font at the same time, it is preferable if you draw the glyphs first, and add them as quickly as possible (within one week maximum) when it is your turn to do so.
Glyph addition rules
- Add all glyphs in the assigned code blocks, including those you leave empty.
- Correctly map all added glyphs to the assigned code points.
- Name all non-empty glyphs in a uniform and recognizable manner. The ConScript Unicode Registry has a naming convention which can be useful.
Glyphs can only be added in the Unicode Private Use Area.
Using user-created scripts on Geopoeia
The scripts in the table below can be used on geopoeia by means of a number of templates:
{{geop|}}
gives: .{{geopl|}}
gives: . (Hover over the symbol to see the effect.){{geopb|}}
gives: .{{geops|200|}}
gives: . (The number is a size percentage.)
To use any glyph from the Private Use Area, you can copy the appropriate glyph from the character table below, or use an HTML escape code in the form &#x____;
, where the underscores represent a code point, i.e. 
gives . Note that user-created scripts do not work outside these templates, and thus don't show up properly in the edit screen either.
