Settlement

The Lonowai Archipelago is thought to have been first inhabited by some Khaiwoonese tribes which were in disagreement with the Khaiwoonese monarchy and some natives from Gobrassanya since the 2nd century BC. The Khaiwoonese and the Gobrasi did not establish contact with each other and made moves to isolate each other, probably as a result of distrust from both sides due to race.

Over the years, the Lonowai Gobrasi formed a separate distinct culture from their Gobrasi counterparts, while the Lonowai Khaiwoonese, still retaining much of their traditions, adopted some practices which contrast against the Khaiwoonese back in Khaiwoon, such as using a Latin script for Khaiwoonese instead of the traditional snake-like script and put fewer spices on their food due to the lack of spices on the islands.

Gobrassian control

In the 12th century, during the expansion of Gobrassanya, Lonowai was under Gobrassian control. However, besides the continual military presence on the island, the islands are still technically anarchy without a provincial government administering the islands. Piracy began to flourish in these islands since the 15th century and the island became increasingly populated by criminal fleeing Gobrassanya or pirates. The military stationed there are said to be unproductive and corrupt, also engaging in piracy.

However, this is not to last, when the Gobrassian government decided to form a port in Lonowai in the mid-17th century. The team of investigators sent there were shocked to see the lawlessness of the islands and found themselves captured by the pirates. Eventually, after they managed to escape and report, the Gobrassian government decided to remove the troops there and replace with new ones, while also establishing a new government there. However, before changes can be made, the Ingerish came and took control of the islands in 1778 with little resistance due to the complacency of the troops.

Ingerish control

The Ingerish and the Gobrassian government signed a treaty allowing the Ingerish to administer the islands for at least two hundred years. The Ingerish made several reforms on the islands, removing the pirates and setting up the Lonowai Ingerish Administration on the islands. The Ingerish Port of Obaku was set up for Ingerish ships and trade on the islands increased. In the 18th century, several convicts from the Khaiwoonese protectorate were sent to the islands to help in the development of the islands.

Return to Gobrassian control

In 1962, the islands were returned to Gobrassanya.
