Former president of Chimor (2007-2010). Rosita Nergaard Charango (1959) was a very ambitious politician. In 2007 she formed a government. As a daughter of the Norwegian lawyer Magnus Nergaard, who played an important role in the struggle for independence of Chimor, and Indian rights activist Clarita Charango, she practically grew up with politics. In 2002, she was elected for Libertad in Parliament. Since then she made an extremely fast political career. Her acting was not always diplomatic, and she put many opposants on the sidelines. Her policy within the Libertad party tended to be almost dictatorial. She always got what she wanted. Her aim to form a government almost entirely consisting of women, brang her many male enemies within the party. Eventually, her dictatorial behaviour led to her deposition.

In 2003 she married Javier Varela Delmar, who was minister of Foreign Affairs by then, but in 2009 she divorced him. This makes her one of the few presidents in the world who changed her name during her administration. Before she divorced, she was known as Rosita Varela Nergaard.

After her deposition she fled the country to avoid charges. Possibly she is hiding in Venezuela. Hugo Chávez was a good friend of her.
