Mâchefer, (last) name of one of the most influential families in Île de Romanhe, who´s members are to be found on many important posts. Antoine Mâchefer (1923) was a self made man who in the seventies became a member of L`Assemblée du Département d`Île de Boiguehenneuc and after gaining independency, minister of Foreign Affairs until 1997. His sons (and daughters) also reached high positions in society (with a little help of course, wich is not unusual in Île de Romanhe).
