◀ (May 2017) Ilya Roman athletes ready for FICT Games in Kaupelan ▶
In June the Ilya Roman sportsteam, consisting of no less than 73 athletes will travel to Kaupelan to participate in the FICT Games 2017. Especially the footballteams, both men and women, have been training very hard during the last months and are expected to achieve a much better result than at the games in 2015 in our country. The men´s team will meet Yukland, Voskia and New Courland in group 3 and especially the matches against Voskia and Yukland are going to be quite tough for them. The women´s team will meet the strong teams of Adzhatia, Yukland and Kaupelan and the weaker team of Pannonia. The best results are expected though for the Ilya Roman participants in marathon, triathlon and even cycling and the whole event will be broadcasted live on television here.
(May 2017) General Assembly agrees on Juridical Comittee
On the General Assembly of FICT that took place yesterday in the Yukkish capital Vítgarð, the member states could agree on a draft for the Juridical Committee of FICT and appoint five judges for this committee. The term of office for three of them was decided to be five years and for the other two it will be a period of only six months. Although the Ilya Roman delegation, consisting of president Faroz-Zaran and prime minister Mervin Urzine, was quite happy that the member states could agree on this matter, many here at home were a little bit confused why FICT only seemed to chose judges from "Caucasian European" origin. Although judge Allauddin from the republic of MAS also became one of the five judges, it looked as if this was only because of the fact that there were too few other candidates and many said openly that it was because of his muslim name he ´wasn´t chosen for five years. But president Faroz-Zaran denied that such was the case and pointed to the fact that mrs. Angelina Chan certainly wasn´t Caucasian European and that the judges were chosen in a fair process.
Government of Île de Romanhe is happy with election of Emmanuel Macron
The government of our country is pleased with the great victory of Emmanuel Macron in the second round of the French presidential elections of yesterday. President Faroz-Zaran called Macron last night immediately after the results were announced to congratulate him on his victory. The elections in the former mother country were also closely followed at Île de Romanhe as a possible election of Marine le Pen could also have influenced the politics in our country. According to some, in that case, the French military presence in our country would be sharply reduced, and even the French military base on Île de Romanhe would be completely closed, which would have enormous financial consequences for the Ilja Roma economy. France pays a large sum of money to our country every year to rent the area where the French military base is located and this rent makes quite a significant part of our national budget. Also, the absence of the French soldiers in our country could lead to instability. However, President Faroz-Zaran said after his conversation with Macron against the press that there were no plans to close the military base and that France would not let down its former colonies and allies and remain responsible for the defense of Île de Romanhe.
Exhibition "30 years AGL" opened in national museum.
In March, the exhibition "Thirty Years of AGL" was opened in the National Museum at Port de Boiguehenneuc. Port de Boiguehenneuc is the AGL's cultural capital in 2017 and in collaboration with the Jan Ylieen Institute and the Mård Institute, and through photographs, journal films and archives, borrowed from the AGL head office, the relatively messy history of this organization is shown. Especially from the early years of the AGL there is a lot of material to be seen, including the original founding treaty of Araléthe from 1986. Perhaps more spectacular are the remaining parts of the ARO spacecraft program, including never-used parts of the Zeus and satellites developed by the Member States. The exhibition will be shown in Port de Boiguehenneuc throughout the winter until October and at the same time a series of readings on the AGL will be given by both the current Secretary General of the AGL, Not Curschellas, as by some former secretary generals, such as Heidi Ankelskjöld, Kaj Möländer-Ersson and Mical Arrei. For the exact program and times of these lectures and other information about the exhibition, please refer to the website of the museum. In addition a part of the national museum is undergoing renovation, leaving a number of rooms empty and many jokes are made that these empty halls were also part of the exhibition. "Here are the current activities of the League to be seen, so if the visitor wants to get a good picture of the AGL in 2017, these empty halls are extremely interesting," as was said, but according to the management of the museum these rooms are not accessible to the public. In addition to the exhibition, a film festival will be held in the spring, August and September, with films from some AGL countries, but according to the organization, the program was not yet complete.
AGL-conference in Port Augurq
At the forthcoming AGL conference that will take place in Port Augurq this winter, the state of affairs regarding the ratification of the revisited trteaty of Araléthe will be discussed in particular. The reason for this is that the government of our country and also those of several other Member States believe that those countries which do not want to ratify this revised treaty can not remain a member of the AGL. "One must realize that the Araléthe treaty is the foundation of the AGL and if you want to be a member of the AGL and thus share the valuations of this organization, it is inevitable to ratify that treaty," President Faroz-Zaran said after a Meeting with Secretary General Not Curschellas last week. Curschellas was in Port de Boiguehenneuc last week and spoke with both President and Prime Minister Urzine about the content of the forthcoming AGL conference and later to hold a lecture on the AGL at the AGL exhibition. Another point at the forthcoming conference will also be the possible admission of the island of O Ka Maungo as an associated member. This admission may be somewhat controversial as O Ka Maungo has separated from the Mii Islands, a former member of the AGL, which was due to default thrown out of the AGL a few years ago, but according to the government of O Ka Maungo, the island declared independence to escape the financial problems of the Mii Islands and assured the other member states of the AGL that O Ka Maungo will pay its bills. In addition, some states have already recognized the independence of O Ka Maungo, so there are no official barriers to an associated membership of the AGL, according to the government of the country.
