Aronphei applies to join FICT

February 2015

Aronphei has applied to join the Forum for International Cooperation and Trade (FICT) in the hopes of expanding its market and diversifying revenues. President Sheridan noted that the country relies almost exclusively on oil revenues, and while these are considered a boon, they are not like to last forever. Concerns over environmental degradation - especially in the Arctic - have also pressured the President to seek out new alternatives. To that end he has established dialogue with FICT to discuss the possibility of Aronphei becoming a member, joining other countries such as Tarmorya and Yukland, which the President feels will encourage increased trade and investment. Given the significant revenues generated by the oil industry, the President is lobbying to invest some of that money in ventures abroad. It is hoped that these increased links will help diversify the GDP of Aronphei and bring additional technology to the otherwise isolated country.
